This weekend was fantastic. I was privileged to take a workshop from the amazing Abbey Ryan at the John Peto museum in Island Heights, NJ. My friend Liz from Missouri, accompanied me, along with her sister-in-law, Anette from Alabama.

Hangered
Many of us have worn these wings for nearly thirty years, some longer. On December 11, 2013 the pilots of United Airlines will retire it's traditional pilot wings in favor of a new design implemented due to the merger with Continental. I know that the Continental and United pilots both feel this is a sad day for those of us who hold our respective airlines histories in high regard.
As they say, ONWARD!

Prickly Pear
Someone really should have warned me that the prickly pear has its name for a good reason. I bought this one at a grocery store in Dubai called, ready for this... The Hyper Panda. My right hand feels like it's been swimming in fiberglass.
